What to do on a Road Trip from LA to New York

Traveling from New York to LA is one of those road trips that a lot of us aspire to do at one time or another. Taking a trek across America’s fabulous geography is something that creates the image of cruising along with the music cranked up and the whole of a continent in front of you to discover. So, get that car lease and hit the road for a once in a lifetime trip.

The main interstate roads that you will travel on for such a trip are the I-80, I-40 and the I-70. This route will take you through the states below and is one of the classic ways to travel through the country.

Arizona

Travel from LA to Arizona allows you to see a whole host of the surreal and the beautiful side by side. Arizona is a mixture of natural wonders and the distance from LA to here is around 520 miles, or around 12 hours. Of course, Arizona is the Grand Canyon State and also home to other wonderful sights such as the Meteor Crater, which is one mile across and 600 feet deeps – awe inspiring, or Sedona, a place of breath-taking beauty. Of course, you can’t miss out on the Grand Canyon when in Arizona, so make sure to take the time to see this amazing sight.

You may not know it but there are taxi companies who travel around and across the USA. In fact, Stephen Fry performed the feat in a black London Taxi only a couple of years ago.  We wonder if they used http://www.multiquotetaxiinsurance.co.uk for cover?

Utah

Utah is a very different landscape to the previous one and the area is covered with thick forests and snow, a long way from the heat of Arizona. The state is described as strange and awe inspiring by first time visitors. Travel through it on the UT-95-N and the distance is around 460 miles. When in Utah, visit the Bryce Canyon National Park, with its amazing rock formations or the Arches National Park with its sandstone arches and opportunities for great hikes. Of course, visit The Wave, a rock formation made of sandstone that is like a fixed golden wave in the terrain.

Colorado

Why not take a trip through Colorado while driving through to the Eastern States. The stretch of Highway 34, the highest of all the highways in the US and one that runs from Grand Lake to Estes Park and travels through the Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s a beautiful drive and allows you to take in another part of the US on your journey.

Chicago

A trip to Chicago should be next, taking you out of the wilderness and into the cities of the Americas. Following the Trail Ridge, Chicago can be reached by taking the I-80 for around 1,000 miles. When in Chicago, make sure to take in Lake Michigan, the John Hancock Centre – a great place to see the city from and also to enjoy the skywalk. Of course, Chicago holds a whole host of other gems, from jazz to deep pan pizza; it’s an amazing place to see.

Last Leg

Your final leg of your car leasing deal’s journey is around 800 miles and takes you from Chicago and Illinois to New York. The journey may take a little longer than expected due to slower moving traffic than you would be familiar with in less built up parts of the country. However, makes sure to take in Niagara Falls along the way and soak in the Maid in the Mist boat experience.

Upon arriving in New York you’ll be more than happy to relish in the city’s crazy ways and delighted with your accomplishment.
